This knot is very simple to tie and does not require any special skills. From a Simple knot it differs by a double loop of the wide end around the narrow end of the tie. Due to this additional loop, a Simple Double knot is larger and bolder in shape and it is well suited to the majority of the shirt collars.
Any tie can be used for tying a Simple Double. The only thing to keep in mind here is not to take ties made of too dense fabric, otherwise, the knot will be too large and it won’t look good. Too short ties are difficult to tie nicely either. Simple Double is suitable for men of any body shape. Also, this knot can be worn both for the office and for a party. Pick a tie of understated colors, not too colorful or mottled, then the tie knot will look more rigorous and accurate.
Step 1. To tie a Simple Double knot, place the tie around your neck face up. The wide end of the tie should be on your left and slightly below the narrow end.
Step 2. Cross the wide end over the narrow end to the right.
Step 3. Wrap around the narrow end and pull to the left.
Step 4. Again, pull the wide end over the narrow end to the right.
Step 5. Wrap around the narrow end and pull to the left.
Step 6. Again, pull the wide end over the narrow end to the right. Notice that the wide end is looped around the narrow end three times.
Step 7. Bring the wide end up and through the back of the loop.
Step 8. Hold the front of the tie with your index finger and bring the wide end down through the front of the knot.
Step 9. Gently tighten the knot.
Simple Double is very close related to the Simple knot, or Four-in-Hand knot, though it’s symmetric in shape and a bit bigger in size. Simple Double is a self-releasing knot, it means that you won’t need to repeat all steps again in the reverse order to untie the knot.
